Garrett Gold Pans
Garrett’s famous Gravity Trap gold pan series enhances the efficiency and outcome of every prospecting adventure. This pan expands its floor size by 33% compared to traditional 14" gold pans, allowing for more material to be processed with each use. Its patent-pending, offset, acentric design optimizes the panning surface and angle, ensuring effective and rapid gold recovery in wet and dry conditions.
The Gold Trap Pan has a 90° riffled design that traps the gold as the material is washed over the pan. This prevents valuable finds from being lost. This product is made from lightweight, durable materials and a light green color to enhance gold nugget visibility. Its design has been proven and tested by thousands of gold prospectors worldwide, demonstrating Garrett’s commitment to quality and reliability.
How to Use a Gold Pan
- Fill the pan with the material you’ve collected. The larger the floor size, the more material you can process, which increases your chances of finding gold.
- Gently shake the pan while slightly rotating it, allowing the gold to settle at the bottom and wash away the waste material and dirt.
- Continue shaking and rotating the pan with water, allowing it to wash away the lighter material while the gold stays put.
- Once you’ve sifted everything down to the gold, use a snuffer bottle to collect the gold from the pan and store it in a vial.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Gold Trap Pan different from other gold pans?
Unlike other gold pans, the Gold Trap pan’s expanded floor size allows more gold materials to be processed. Its riffled design improves performance and makes it easier to trap gold.
Can I use this gold pan correctly without any previous gold panning experience?
Yes, this gold pan is user-friendly for people of all levels. We offer a “How to Find Gold” field guide with the Gold Pan Kit to help you practice your panning techniques.
Does the color of the pan help with gold prospecting?
Yes, the green color of Garrett’s gold pans gives you greater visibility of fine gold nuggets and flakes against the bottom of the pan. This allows you to quickly spot even the smallest pieces of gold-containing materials.

What does the DD & FC stand for in DD-FC Coils
On a Garrett Axiom metal detector, "DD" stands for "Double D," which refers to the design of the search coil, where two overlapping "D" shaped coils are used to transmit and receive signals, providing better performance in mineralized soil by effectively canceling out ground interference.Key points about DD coils:
- Improved ground balancing:The overlapping coil design helps to minimize the effects of ground minerals, allowing for more stable detection in challenging soil conditions.
- Centralized detection field:The positive detection area primarily occurs in the center of the coil, creating a focused search pattern.
- Better depth potential:Compared to a standard concentric coil, a DD coil can often detect targets at greater depths in mineralized soil.
On a Garrett Axiom metal detector, "FC" stands for "Focused Core," referring to a unique design feature in the search coil where the central part of the coil is concentrated to provide better detection of small targets, particularly in highly mineralized ground, while still maintaining the ground canceling capabilities of a standard Double D coil.Key points about FC coils:
- Improved small target detection:The focused core allows for better sensitivity to tiny objects like small gold nuggets.
- Double D design:Despite the focused core, the coil still utilizes the Double D coil pattern for effective ground cancellation.
- Ideal for prospecting:This feature makes FC coils particularly beneficial for gold prospecting where finding small nuggets is important.
Can I feed my K&M Krusher rocks/ore that are not processed through a jaw crusher?
You can but it is not recommended.
You should always put your rocks/ore through a Jaw Crusher first.
It will help your K&M Krusher function better and longer without repair.
Which Garret Detectors Excel at small gold recovery?
The Garret Axiom, AT Max, AT Pro, At Gold & the Garrett 24K metal detector.
Is there a warranty from Garrett?
Yes, Garrett detectors, pinpointers, and searchcoils now come with a 3 Year Warranty.
